During the wait, there was a fantastic sunset. By 7:00 PM, many areas around World Showcase were multiple levels deep with fans.Īs they waited for the show, the weather went from perfect to rainy to perfect again. By 5:00 PM, most of the front row locations had been spoken for. As the afternoon continued, more and more fans took prime places around World Showcase. People could be seen staking out their favorite places in the morning. This show was beloved by millions over the years as it was presented nightly.įor the closing night, thousands showed up to pay their last respects. On SeptemIlluminations: Reflections of Earth was presented to thousands in attendance for the last time. After the Millennium Celebration ended, “200” was dropped. Another good point was being able to 'stay safe' in the roped off area whilst the park was emptying at the end of the show.On OctoIllumiNations 2000: Reflections of Earth opened at Epcot as part of Walt Disney World Resort’s Millennium Celebration. I would certainly think about experiencing this event again, especially if they decide to put seating in the area. I particularly enjoyed the tiramisu, rum truffles and the shortbread. Although the portions were small, there were too many desserts and drinks on offer to list them all and certainly more than enough to go around - the staff were constantly replenishing the tables and you can keep going back to re-fill your plate/glass. Each party has their own table but, unfortunately, no seating. It was held in a roped off area just near the 'Port of Entry' and it was great to be able to watch the display without being bumped into or having someone tall (I'm only 5') decide to stand in front of me. I read about the Sparkling Dessert Party and decided to make reservations. ![]() We have seen the Illuminations display at Epcot, World Showcase many times and they never disappoint. and the Star Wars fireworks, too.ĭisney have always put on the best firework shows in the world. I highly recommend the cruise as special way to enjoy IllumiNations. However, there are ways that a group of friends or couples (the boat holds 10 passengers) could easily share the cost to make it more affordable. The cost of this cruise was high - approximately $370 for our family for the 1.5 hour charter. We checked in pretty quickly and were on the water and on our way. Due to some rain-related delays and our dinner reservations being pushed back a bit, we made it to the marina at 8:45. Suggested check-in is roughly 30 minutes before IllumiNations is scheduled to begin. Getting there will require you to leave the park via the International Gateway (just beyond the England pavilion) and follow the walking path to the marina. Once the show at Hollywood Studios was over, we docked and concluded our evening.ĭetails for booking can be found on the Disney website (contact #, cost, etc.).Ĭheck-in for the private boat cruise is located at the marina of the Yacht Club Resort. He found a great spot out of the way of the ferries, and we watched the Star Wars fireworks as well. Following the show at Epcot, our captain, Gerry, took us for a cruise by the Boardwalk Resort and to Hollywood Studios. It is a beautiful spot to see the show and a memory that I know none of us will soon forget. The viewing area is just beyond the bridge between the England and France pavilions. We reserved a private pontoon boat with a captain for a group of 9 people to watch IllumiNations. Not worth the $50/person charge and we will likely not attend this party again. They no longer had the fresh donuts, special ice creams, ice cream treats, fruit or cheese trays. They also had cookies, rice crispie treats, baklava, a bread pudding, popcorn flavored gelato, and a few other random options that weren't particularly memorable. Many of the desserts were cold like they'd just come out of the fridge or hadn't fully defrosted yet (cupcake and baklava), or overcooked like the incredibly tough churros. ![]() (The line started forming for check in around 7pm, check in started an hour before Illuminations at 8pm, and Illuminations wasn't until 9pm, so that's a lot of standing around at the end of an already tiring day walking around Epcot.) The party had fewer dessert options than our previous visit and what they did have was very underwhelming. Many guests chose to sit on the ground after standing so long for the check in and party time. The party has tables set up but no seating. ![]() This was our second time attending the party and we were not impressed the second time around. This review is focused specifically on the Illuminations Sparkling Dessert Party aspect.
